Tris-Tricine-SDS Running Buffer (10X, Cathode Buffer)

The 10X Tris-Tricine-SDS Cathode Running Buffer is a specialized cathode, or negative electrode buffer that allows proper protein stacking and resolution during gel running. The buffer contains a tris-tricine buffering system, along with sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) that imparts a uniform negative charge. Tris is the main buffering agent and Tricine functions as the trailing ion for small molecule resolution. SDS ensures that proteins are separated on size alone, rather than structure or charge. The product is provided as a 10X concentrate, with a pH of 8.3 when diluted to 1X for use.
