MES Buffer [2- (N-morpholino) ethanesulfonic acid] is a zwitterionic Good's buffer used in biological and biochemical research. It maintains a stable pH within the range of 5.5 to 7.0 and is highly soluble in water. MES is commonly used as a running buffer for bis-tris gels, chromatography, and in protein purification. It is valuable for enzymatic reactions, and acts as a non-coordinating buffer in metal ion chemistry. It has minimal UV absorbance and is stable in various applications.
